Things Inside Body Atlas
Things Inside/Body Atlas I collected personal
testaments exploring visual metaphors people ascribe to disease within their
bodies, then created multimedia representations of these newly articulated
anatomical structures out of stained glass, needle-felted wool and found
objects. The series deliberately recalls images from medical textbooks in which
the body stands with its internal organs exposed, fragmented and dissected,
while striving to reintegrate a sense of emotional expression. Each piece is
designed to evoke contemplation, narrative experience, strength and courage.
